"The four candles (fork handles)" roombox

€75  SOLD

Available 12th scale roombox from Elly's estate. This fantastic 'Four Candles' (fork handles) roombox was handmade by Shane Downes (UK).

Below is an excerpt from the text Shane Downes posted on eBay for the original sale of the roombox:

"This 'Four Candles' 1:12 scale roombox is my first miniature in this scale which I named after the hilarious 'Four Candles/Fork Handles' 1976 sketch by the Two Ronnies. (...) This was a joy to make and has inspired me to attempt a complete doll house in 1:12th."
"Four Candles is a fictitious Victorian style roombox with built in shop cabinets and moveable shelves designed for the miniature collector to place all their shop wares for display."
"This roombox was going to be a sweet shop with suitable insignia but that would limit its appeal so Four Candles allows it to be whatever type of shop you choose.
Every piece of this roombox was handmade including the door knobs, letter box and I even cut the letters from high quality card/bristol board which was demanding! The small panes of the three cabinets were also cut from the same high quality card.
The front of the roombox comes away leaving the open room totally viewable, the roof can be taken off allowing the cabinet doors to slide out for access the the shelves. The lower panes of the door and bay window are frosted.
The side and back have heavily weathered balsa wood timbers and clay infill."
"Measurements including base: Width 198mm (4 5/8") x Depth 166mm (6 1/2") x 235mm (9 1/4")"

Through the use of tacky wax etc., there are some stains and a bit of damage to some of the shelves inside the cabinets.  This of course will be hidden when the shelves are filled up with miniatures again.  Otherwise an absolutely wonderful roombox!
